Presentation/Description of the method:

Cyprus Business Portal (CBP) is a one-stop Comprehensive Business Management Resource Centre on the Internet and it was developed with the needs of Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in mind and all its services are offered free of charge to the business community of Cyprus and abroad.

General objectives

  1. To provide the Cyprus business community with information, tools and support services on various areas of interest, and,
  2. To encourage the exchange of information, ideas, experiences and best practices among the users of the portal, the majority of which are SMEs. Hopefully, CBP will bring together material on a wide spectrum of topics in order to create a service that will become a point of reference and operate as an information and communication center for the business community of Cyprus.

Why it has been selected as good practice

It has been selected as a good practice because as an online tool, it provides a wide-range of information and best practices among the SMEs. The users can share material online and exchange ideas and experiences about several topics on the evolvement and development of their enterprises. Moreover, CBP also provides a directory of business profiles with the added capability of presenting products, services and trade leads such as offers to buy, offers to sell and franchising. The Business Directory will give the opportunity to SMEs to present any type of information related to their company such as products, services, alerts and business leads in the form of a website. Company logos, graphics, attached documents and many other types of media could be added to a company profile, enabling SMEs to have a web presence at no cost.

Final comments:

The portal is free of charge and so it is accessible by anyone, any time. There is no limit on the number of users accessing the online platform and most importantly, it is an open tool that allows access to non-local users as well.
