SheTech Italy is an association with a social vocation, it was born with the aim of supporting women in the world of technology, digitisation and entrepreneurship, through networking events, training workshops and professional opportunities. They are very active on line and they have members or ambassadors in the major Italian cities which are in charge of organizing seminars in the cities. Most of the activities are held in Milan
SheTech has a dedicated activity for training: SheTech Master School
The School is made up of one-day (Saturday) or two-day (Saturday and Sunday) teaching modules which can be purchased individually or for thematic itineraries. The courses are held from 10.00 to 18.00 in Milan.
The training offer includes classroom lessons with high-level professional teachers who mix theory and experiential work, case studies, individual and group exercises.
Lecture notes and certificates of participation are issued at the end of each module.
General objectives
SheTech wants to be an organization that acts as an active change agent in the technological landscape, offering a collaborative environment that makes women increasingly aware and able to assert themselves personally and professionally.
The association creates events, workshops and meetings relevant for all women passionate about technology and digital, regardless of the role they play as entrepreneurs, freelancers, engineers or whatever their professional path is.
Some of the training are also organized as webinars or “one shot training” a kind of conversation about a single topic, organized during lunch time.
Why it has been selected as good practice
One of their goal is to close the tech/digital gap between women and men, to improve digital skills among women and to promote digital entrepreneurship among women. It differs from our project because they don’t have a specific target group over 40.
Regarding the training activities they offer a quite large range of topics, some of them more linked to entrepreneurship in general (public speaking, personal branding) others specifically oriented to e-entrepreneurs (how to build a web site; how to communicate digitally yourself and your brand: visual storytelling, visual design, storytelling on Instagram; lean methodology and design sprint; agile product and leadership; digital marketing and growth hacking).
Final comment
I think that their methodology is quite appealing and smart and the message they want to create is that “going digital” is easy and fun.
SheTech also organized a 5 days bootcamp from February 27th to March 5th (cancelled for the Coronavirus) for 10 women entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs to be, it was done in collaboration with USA Embassy in Italy and with the contribution of Cariplo Factory.
